New Contents for Millenaire

Post by Maik » Tue Aug 13, 2013 4:27 pm

While I created new buildings I had a idea.

Millenaire don't add new cultures in the last time.
So I want to add two new cultures.
I only can build,so I need somone how can programm the .txt files.
Maybe we can make groups for that.
The cultures I want to add are
first : roman
second: persian
I hope that the community can help me with this task.
If you want to join a group write to me,I show the groups on my site.
Im from Berlin so my english is not so good(but I hope you can forgive me that)

Hope to get many answers from willing yousers  .
Also look at my site.

The byzantines are not exactly romans.
I mean the roman empire.
I build the houses with tiles of quarz and hardened clay.
The first photos are on my site.
You can take a look.
If you don't know what I meaning look in Wikipedia under Roman Empire.

And the Romans you are meaning are not 11th century. So it won't be integrated into the main mod very likely. But it would be cool as a custom culture anyway :D

it would be awesome if the romans could 'steal' people from other cultures as keep them as slaves.

Why not take the Byzantine culture files and retexture them and then change the names in the name files to match up with your preferred time period?

The Byzantine buildings are a little bit Greece touch.
The Roman has an other architecture.

I build the buildings because they inspire me.
I need to look at my buildings and be proud of them.
And I don't want only changing files. This is not create a own culture.

It is just a LOT easier if you change the way the buildings look and change the skins, I don't see what you would be missing if you did it this way.

i agree maik. You stopped development because you didn't have the textures. felinoel explained to you how to fix that. If its the building design thats holding you up, then just build the buildings yourself and export them by following the building guide on the wiki:

http://millenaire.org/wiki/Guide_on_mak ... _Buildings

No one is stopping your creative design and we are excited for what you can produce.

This I do since I started.
And now i found out how to ad blocks
But how can I add difficult blocks with on ID (example: Block of Quartz/Quartz Pillow one Id;stained clay one ID)
These blocks can't be added yet.
somone with an idea to solve this problem?
!It's important because the tiles of quartz are my last building uprgade!

I will make the first buildings and upgrades, but without the final update.
I export some buildings yet.
Maybe the Millenaire mod adds the new Minecraft 1.5 and Minecraft 1.6 blocks.

now im not a building creator, so I can't say for sure. But I'm pretty sure that if you add the custom block ID to the list of available ID's and then you use those blocks in your upgrade, it should automatically register the final form of your building.

Just do what you have been doing and add the new block ID to the list.

I can't remember the name of the file that the list is in currently but you can easily do a google search and find it yourself.

Bad news. :(
Millenaire don't excapt it.
I knew the problem.
All Quartz Blocks have one ID,but Millenaire needs one Id for each block.
When Minecraft put all Quartz Blocks in an extra ID I can continue work. :)

All logs have one ID too but Millenaire can differentiate what should be what, that isn't the problem.

You are right.
It is the number behind the ID!
Thank you so much.
(Maybe Millenaire create a guide for adding block?)

Some time ago I thinking to make a spanish culture, but for lack of time finally I don´t make a release.

Image

Image

The idea is a small town concept, all buildings in the core and the rest are fields, groves and farms.

A example of farm:

A example of quicklime (new block) worker:

Fort:

And new block: limestone (created with help)
w3(r4ft wrote:
Finish!

Copy and paste this into the "minecraft/mods" folder:
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/5339173/wecraft ... cklime.zip

Sourcecode:
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/5339173/wecraft ... cecode.zip

It will spawn ~1 limestone basin per chunk. (But much limestone). Between layer 50-120.
In the near of water limestone will spawn much more frequently.

Any questions?

EDIT:

Add this to the "minecraft/millenaire/blocklist.txt" file:
"quicklime;159;0;false;255/255/250"
"limestone;158;0;false;255/255/240"
this is the Limestone:

Image

In world:

Image

And in furnace is Quickstone. Works perfectly.

Overview:

Blocks:

-limestone: Image
-quicklime: Image
-masonry: Image (block, stairs, slab, "inverted" stair to make arches)
-ashlar: Image (block, stairs, slab, "inverted" stair to make arches)

Items:

-limestone pebbles: Image
-limestone gravel : I lost the png :(
-mortar: Image

Crafting:

limestone + stone pickaxe => limestone pebbles

limestone pebbles + :Bench: => limestone gravel (1 to 1)
limestone gravel + :Furnace: => quicklime

limestone pebbles + :Bench: => limestone (2 to 1, and recovers limestone)
quicklime + sand + :Bench: => 8 mortar (needs water, but for NPC I think is more difficult add a bucket of water in craft)
limestone pebbles + mortar + :Bench: => masonry (1 + 1 = 4)
masonry + :Bench: => masonry stair, masonry slab, masonry "inverted" stair

limestone + mortar + :Bench: => ashlar (2 + 1 = 2)
ashlar + :Bench: => ashlar stair, ashlar slab, ashlar "inverted" stair

This are only ideas but, maybe can used it for another content for millenaire. At this moment I not release the spanish culture, because I lost all data and only I have the pngs.

NOTE: Don´t download the files and don´t suppose the craftings works because are an earlier project. If you aren´t sure what you doing, not try it.

Exactly, perhaps give limestone a crafting recipe, something like idk two sand and one cobble when crafted together give two limestone blocks.

Or... when crafted together gives a mixture block that needs to be smelted in a furnace to get limestone?

Ya know, there are plenty of other mods that also has limestone as world-generated 'ores', so why not have compability with them? One thing that comes in mind is the Chisel mod.

But still, these new culture ideas are interesting. I am also in the middle of making an Iroquois culture, but so far I only got a small longhouse, a round house, and a dance circle finished. Also looking for some skins to populate the village with, I'm very new at this though.

Competition for my Native American culture?! O:

Did the Iroquois use bone tools too? I kind of want to give the Inuits bone tools and if other potential cultures use it then hey that gives me reason to do it.

Bone tools would have high strength, very low durability. Something along the lines of iron strength, wood durability... not quite that but close.

Eh, I think Iroquois/Haudenosaunee are different enough from the Inuits. The Iroquois can have better flint and iron arrows, and wooden clubs which can do damage better than wooden swords. Maybe, since 1.6 has horses, I can even set up stables (Iroquois does have a good horse culture). They are also a forest culture, so I'm making them have a good wood economy.

Perhaps after I get their core buildings done I can start on one of my own culture, the Majapahit.

Sure they are different but I shall still see them as competition. lol =b
