Hindu Statue not Selling

So I have a Hindu village I've been watching over and providing resources for. They are trying to build a village temple, but they haven't built a stone carver's house, so they don't have any Hindu Statues. I got a statue, but the Village Chief's wife won't but it from me. I checked in the townhall.txt file in the shops folder, and it says they buy Hindu Statues, but the game won't let me sell them. Right now they have all resources but the statue.

Anyone know why this is happening?

Sometimes, village need to trade with other villages of the same culture.

This is the most developed Hindu village in my world. There are no other villages with Hindu Statues, unless it is a starting building for some town.

In the file .../cultures/hindi/traded_goods.txt

make sure that there is a line:

indianstatue,5*64,5*64,0,0,,,,2*64*64,tradehelp.hindistatue

I have this as the last line in the file and I think I inserted that myself just to solve the problem that they don't buy the statues. The line contains both selling and buy price and I think one of them was missing.

Check to see if the villagers actually have room in their chests to buy more stuff. They might not be buying it simple because they don't have the space.

Also, it is showing up in the trade window at all or is it just not there?

No I'm saying that they had space. It's a fully upgraded Qila, and they haven't even filled up the main room.

I have the same problem.

I kill all man so that the chests are open and put the Hindu Statues in.

In night all man respawn.

With this method your reputation don't get negative.

Its an option.

That would work, then I'd just edit the reputation files to make them like me again. And I could take a few select things too.

I find this an issue with more than one culture when it's a non-agricultural type village. With byzantines it's bricks that need editing of text file and for byzantine tiles you at least can get them from a market.
For hindi military village, you're pretty much stuck with editing files for these statues (though I haven't tried killing the villagers yet) as market is not yet built before you need them for a temple. I even started a separate agricultural hindi village just to get the statues, (this was on server version so not able to restart easily), and had the carver's wife disappear, the carver never did anything and statues were never made. Drove me nuts.
