Re: #ReviveModMillenaireIn1.10.2
After we get it working on 1.8.9, it will be much easier to update it to the more current versions. The plan is to finish it off for 1.8.9, then update it to all of the versions past that.

Makes sense, 1.8.x to 1.9.4 is a much bigger leap then 1.9.4 to any version later so it may take a while for the dev team to update this massive mod after 1.8.x.

Re: #ReviveModMillenaireIn1.10.2
The biggest hurdle is 1.8.9. There are a lot of things in the mod that are effectively incompatible with any version beyond 1.7.10, so it needs almost a full rewrite to go over to 1.8.9.
Once the full 1.8.9 version hits, it should also be much more future-proof, making the conversion of 1.8.9 to 1.9.4 easier, and by comparison 1.9.4 to 1.10.2 and 1.10.2 to 1.11.2 are trivial.

Also, much of millenaire was written before forge became the modder friendly application it is today so there are many things that solely rely on less than ideal methods that need to be rewritten as well.PsiGuy60 wrote:The biggest hurdle is 1.8.9. Ugh, just wait for when Minecraft officially becomes the Pocket Edition version...Orange1861 wrote:Makes sense, 1.8.x to 1.9.4 is a much bigger leap then 1.9.4 to any version later so it may take a while for the dev team to update this massive mod after 1.8.x.

Noo! That would be scary... I like to play Minecraft PE sometimes, I don't have my PC all the time around myself, but... but... Ok, I would be extremely happy to have Millenaire also in PE, but you know... I understand how much work it takes to develop a new version I don't even wait for a PE one. Basically, I use my PE to play vanilla Minecraft, and enjoy the mods on the PC version. And that is great! Well no the Pocket Edition version is most likely going to become what the PC version uses due to how cleaner and easier it is to code.Akeakamai wrote:Noo! That would be scary... Re: #ReviveModMillenaireIn1.10.2
I have a question. I've understood the PE/Win10/XBox/console edition to be the heir ascendant for MC, and I like that it makes for a cleaner code for MC and hopefully makes for a better game in general. However, it's also my understanding that this edition is much harder to MOD, eliminating one of the best elements of MC as it currently stands on the PC. Is this indeed the case? And if MS/Mojang ever do finally deprecate the PC edition, is there an avenue for existing mods and modders to begin porting their work over to the PE/Console edition? Or is that just a non-starter?

That is definitely the case, but I've seen some people starting to get the basics of mods for Win10. That said, modding Win10 apps is against the Windows 10 ToS, and isn't recommended.
