Millénaire 5.2b1 is working for me in single player, but I'm getting a crash on server startup with Millénaire server 5.2b1.

Same problem here!
I posted it already here http://millenaire.org/forum/viewtopic.php?p=2778#p2778 but I think this was the right place, sorry.
-------------------------------------------------------------

Hello! My first post here, but I am a user since some time ago.
The client version is working very well, amazing job!

Im trying to run a server and I have problems to start it.
Ive uploaded it here:
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/188 ... enaire.zip

Its the lastest forge ( 1.7.2-10.12.0.1047 ) with millenaire installed.
There is a log.txt on the crash-reports folder with the console output if it helps.

The command used to start the server was:
java -Xmx1024M -Xms1024M -jar forge-1.7.2-10.12.0.1047-universal.jar nogui

Hope it helps to the debugging! You are doing here an amazing job!

I got past this point.

You need to put the config-server file from the Millenaire folder that goes in the mods folder, into the mods folder with the Millenaire folder that you took it from. Rename it config-server.txt and it should eliminate the error. If it does not, then completely reinstall Forge and Millenaire but do this. I've gotten that error before and fixed it like this, though it doesn't seem to want to fix without starting over.

I can get the server to launch correctly, but the mod does not function once I get in. It says the mod is installed on the server (number of mods installed through Forge increases when I use it, and I have no other mods). I can't use the Wand of Summoning, I get no messages from the mod upon login, pressing v does not produce any messages. The mod simply is not functioning.

The problem persists in 5.2b2.

I doubt moving the config-server file is actually helping anything. I tried moving it like you suggest, and like you described, Forge did act like it had loaded the mod, but the mod had no effect. Then I completely removed the config-server file, and the behavior was the same. So I think what you're getting is not progress, but simply another failure mode when Millénaire cannot find its configuration file.

Perhaps there's something wrong with the default configuration? That's another possibility. The IDs in the beta 1 configuration looked suspicious, but I see they have been removed in beta 2. Nothing else jumps out at me.

I notice Millénaire logged some new information right before the "InvItem for air blocks" error:

Code: Select all

[11:02:49] [Server thread/INFO] [FML/millenaire]: SRV ERROR: null: Tried to create good from block with no item: saddle;73;0;Selle
[11:02:49] [Server thread/INFO] [FML/millenaire]: SRV InvItem(Block block,int meta): [email protected]
[11:02:49] [Server thread/INFO] [FML/millenaire]: SRV org.millenaire.common.MLN$MillenaireException: Attempted to create an InvItem for air blocks.
So, maybe this is due to a definition error for the trade goods in the culture files? The text "saddle;73;0;Selle" is found in file millenaire-custom/mods/examplemod/itemlist.txt, and deteting the examplemod folder gets rid of that particular issue. Still having an error in the language files, but we're making progress.

I don't need Dutch, so I removed the nl language directory, leaving "SRV MAJOR: null: Loading language: fr". I set language=en in the config file, and that became "SRV MAJOR: null: Loading language: en". I'm not sure what to look for, at this point.

That's what I was trying to get at. Adding the config file solves that particular error, but the mod doesn't function in game. At least we can use this to try and narrow down what's causing the problem. It seems to be the config file, though I don't have a very extensive knowledge of mods. It is another failure, as you said, but it could also be one step closer to fixing it. I'm kinda hoping the mod's creator hops on here and takes a look at these bug reports

Luc, I'm sure the config file is where it is supposed to be. If you move it out of the millenaire folder into the mods folder, Millénaire behaves the same as if you remove it completely. And Millénaire definitely finds it in the millenaire folder, because I could change my language setting. Unfortunately, that just changed which language files it was unable to load.

Have you tested the other languages yet to see if it can load any of them? If the problem is in the language files, maybe one of them (probably whichever one the creator primarily uses) works correctly and the others have bugs in them. Just a thought. I'm gonna tinker around some more later tonight when I have more time, if no one else has checked the other languages yet, I might as well

Only fr (which it chose by default) and en, so far. I may well give some others a try later.

New development

http://prntscr.com/33uy6x

Link to a screenshot because I'm too stupid to figure out how to embed it here

I hit escape and clicked Mod Options, and this thing popped up. I think its something with Forge not being able to run Millenaire, so it just shuts itself off. I'm not sure though. If I find anything else with this I'll post it

I have tried all the languages (except nl, which I had removed because it was causing a different problem), with the same result: "SRV MAJOR: null: Loading language: X", where X is whatever language I set. I also tried "language=qq", with the same result. This tells me it probably isn't anything in the individual language files.

Good to know.. the error is probably in the part of the mod that reads the language files then. Though I am not sure why that would cause the mod to not completely not function in-game..

Damn. I keep having the same error on startup... also linked to the language files. Isn't there any way to fix this?

If I find a solution, I'll post it. But for now, I think I just have to wait for the next beta and hope for a fix... or at least some additional error logging that will help track down what is happening.

Yeah a fixed update might do the job. Hopefully soon cause i wantedto start a minecraft server with the earth map with friends, but without Millenaire and just MCA it seems rather bland :/

Same Zazquatch, I was going to set up a server to play with some buds from school. This is a serious let-down, we were all planning on it being up last weekend.

I tried to get the creator's attention, it doesn't look like he/she is very active during the week, we might make some progress this weekend. I hope.

Same error here.

5.2b3 fixed the language issues, at least. Thanks for that!

The bug is in the crops, the new fix that got rid of the glitch where villagers wouldn't plant crops is lacking textures or is bugging out of them

Same here. Log is saying something about crop textures and will crash the server on startup.

The server crop fix I think is most likely the issue.. I wonder why it works for the creator and not for us though. Why would Kinn release server builds that didn't work?

The creator released a new version thats supposed to have a bug fix in it for this. I'm testing it now

Tested it and it seems to work... Gonna get Tunngle on and start a lan server brb

EDIT: Works. Server won't crash after Startup, but creates other major errors when joining the server wich renders this mod unplayable and crashes the server. I removed all my mods and am just running millenaire.

:

I am guessing it has something to do with world/village generation, since I have a map from wich coordinates I know exactly where a village will spawn, but as soon as I get there, the chunk with supposed village won't load up and the server crashes. Strangely, lone buildings work flawlessly.

I haven't found buildings yet but it does make perfect sense that its the spawning process
