I would love to see an update on this. I love the work you have done so far. If you ever need help with surnames as I can't mod my way out of a paper bag, I can help with names, history and other factors. I'm a follower of Asatru, would love to see this updated with more buildings and features.
Gungnir_343 · 2020-04-03
I could definitely use some help from you, maybe you can make suggestions for buildings, names, and dialogues on the millenaire discord server in the community-content channel and hopefully make stuff more historically accurate. I've only recently decided to begin working on this again and I might need some guidance on what to do next. So yeah, I'd be very thankful for your help and I'll make sure to give credit for your contributions

Python(

how do I put this addon in the game?
Gungnir_343 · 2020-05-04
You just need to follow the steps in the instructions text file
Rmfds150 · 2020-05-11
Very cool your work with this rich culture, I would like it to be added to the mods
Artixs · 2020-06-17
I'm new to modding, so I'd appreciate it if you could tell me how to open the millenaire.jar file. I can't seem to find any tutorial that helps.
Edit: I wrote this fast so I wasn't specific. I want to know how to put the textures from the "Viking" folder into the game
Gungnir_343 · 2020-06-30
You gotta right click the jar file and open it with a file archiver like WinRAR. Sorry for the very late response, I wasn't able to log into my account for some reason
Tyrson · 2020-07-02
I love the mod, and I see a great future for it, but I don't know if it's an error or you just don't put it in yet, but I can't be the leader of my own village, apart I would love to see Viking ships in the mod, I think that would be the cherry on the cake.
nice job man
Gungnir_343 · 2020-07-02
Thanks! The controlled village isn't in yet but there is a ship burial lonebuilding and I'm planning on adding a boat house. I'll try making viking ships that spawn on water if millenaire got around the issues of water generation.
Tyrson · 2020-07-06
I hope that works out, I think that a good monument to the mod would be the Sverd i fjell in Norway, i know that the three swords monument are acctually not from the viking era but they will look cool anyways you are the one who decides, or meaby those rock with runes or maybe an Odín statue, and maybe a hof will be nice structure like the valheim hof in denmark anyways I wish you the best in this project, if you need any help with information or a translation to spanish please tell me, good luck
MoonCutter2B · 2020-07-08
Any chance you could include a proper resourcepack with the textures?
And please remove copied goals from the goals folder, only the new goals are needed.
Gungnir_343 · 2020-07-08
ok
Tyrson · 2020-07-13
Hello, can you explain to me step by step how to install the mod to the millenarie with the latest changes please, I think I did something wrong because when I see the types of available villages the agricultural village does not appear to me
Gungnir_343 · 2020-07-13
Open the unpacked folder and you should see two folders, one named viking_culture which you should put in minecraft\mods\millenaire-custom\mods and another named Viking(Pack) which is simply a resource pack for the skins. It's possible that you used an old version since I only successfully tested the update on the latest version of millenaire. It's also possible that you were using it on an old world which had an older version of the addon.
Tyrson · 2020-07-14
thanks man, awesome work
Tyrson · 2020-07-15
hey man, i have a cuestion, ¿at what point the villagers build the walls?
Gungnir_343 · 2020-07-15
Walls are only built in the town village type and sections are upgraded if you have enough resources. The other villages only have border posts.
babouchka · 2020-12-31
Hello, great mod thank you, what is a shame is the fact that even being recognized as a leader, the PNJs of a military village (not isolated building, I'm talking about a large village spawned with a block of gold) attack us in easy mod therefore obliged to put in gm1 to have peace. There is no dialogue like other peoples, there is just "discuss", otherwise I really like this addition, thank you :)
Gungnir343 · 2020-12-31
@babouchka Can you tell me which village it was? There isn't a military village in this addon and the closest thing I can think of is the town or the jomsviking outpost. Millagers will only attack you if you provoke them even if you have a high reputation and this is something that isn't unique to my addon; even the Normans will attack you if provoked regardless of reputation. But if you're saying that the villagers attack you without provocation, you might be talking about a lone building such as the jomsviking outpost. In that case, the hostility is intentional. Also, I'm sure that there is dialogue. If you open the languages folder, you'll see some text files for dialogues and sentences which show up in game if you have a high reputation.
babouchka · 2021-01-01
@ Gungnir343, hello, it's the Borg village, moreover since I love the NPj, I take care of their well-being, resources ect, I trade with them, even when they build I give them food or weapons of 'other cultures that they like, I am the most peaceful player of the millennium, I always defend them in case of attack, so in the village I put 50% for the attacks of the bandits, I arm myself, and in the morning so fateful I put myself next to them to defend them, and there I am attacked by them, even if I decorate and recce, I understand that to have played millennia since 1.7 you should never even just type a single NPC, otherwise all the male clan attacks you, that's for the precision, after I will spawn a farming village and see if it's the same, but it's still weird, because by spawning another Borg village in another world I suffered the same attack. So much for the precision, thank you :) sorry my english I am french
Gungnir_343 · 2021-01-01
@babouchka That definitely sounds weird... Are they attacking you for no reason at all or did you accidentally hit one of them? Try giving yourself a ton of reputation and do /kill @p to reset the aggro. If they still attack you on sight, it probably has something to do with your game cause I haven't had this problem before and I don't know how to recreate it on my world. The best solution I can think of then is to remove every mod besides millenaire and test it on a new world just in case it's caused by a mod conflict. Also, we only have english translations for now so the dialogues won't work if you set your language to french. I still don't have a french translator so for now, I'd recommend that you switch to english. Hope this helps.
babouchka · 2021-01-02
Thank you, yes I have uninstalled and reinstalled, no more attack problem, everything is going well, after for the translation on the millennial discord some French people would be happy to help you. In secret when the Normans are remodeling their building, I put on them Viking armor, a soldier wears it without to go at the blacksmith's, it's a pleasure, they also love the Viking sword, in short, thank you for your answers and your work, already 1074 downloads, bravo :)
ampharos · 2021-02-27
I have a world with a borg, and even though I am considered "one of us" and I don't attack anyone, sometimes I will be attacked completely unprovoked, and if I attack back in defense the whole town will attack me. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the mod, but some millagers will still attack me unless I am in peaceful. It is only one or two, and if I kill them, they will still do it as soon as they are resurrected. It appears to be the vikingrs that attack me.
Gungnir_343 · 2021-02-28
@ampharos Thanks for informing me, the new file has the fix. If you don't want to reinstall, just remove the "tag=hostile" in the raider txt file found in viking_culture\cultures\viking\villagers\normalvillagers. I hope this helped!
MoonCutter2B · 2021-05-30
I like this culture so far. Its fresh. A few suggestions though:
- the farm could have a bit more wheat from start, they need the thatch
- one on the town halls is very dark inside, mobs spawn inside at any time
- viking miner needs some type of wood for the furnace
- viking workshop's shop is missing a string, as is some other strings
- grass_path is not very well supported currently, its used in some town hall upgrade
- cannot find the villager that has the goal "makecarpet_brown" (and since there is a lot of carpets and colored wool needed this could be a profession/house (or maybe part of the workshop?)
Artixs · 2021-08-08
Hi, it's me again. In the most recent version of the mod, player colonies (Nylenda) will only upgrade the starter buildings and walls, they will not build any more of the listed constructions. I am unsure if it has to do with one of the other mods that I have installed since I haven't done much testing, but if you know anything about this, please let me know. Thank you and great mod! structures, dialogue, and textures look fantastic.
Edit: I realized I had to use the summoning wand... It's been a while since I've played millenaire.... god IM sorry
wyr3d · 2021-09-29
This link is working fine..
PrincessSimmer13 · 2022-04-27
Hi, I followed the instructions but I'm trying to pick a norse village using the summoning wand. I'm not sure if I installed it wrong, or if the summoning wand doesn't work with custom villages. Please help.

I found a small bug with this addon. This was in a player controlled village, and I was trying to get my villagers to build a grove (grove A I think -- it's the one with spruce, oak and dark oak), but they needed one stone button to build it. However, even when I had enough stone in the chests, they wouldn't build it. I even put stone buttons and wooden buttons in the chests, but that also didn't work. On the building project list, the stone button texture didn't show up (instead it was the purple and black 'missing texture' texture), so I think it was looking for a stone button with a specific NBT tag or something. In the end I had to just go into the building files and change the pixel that represented the stone button into air.
solomonic · 2022-12-08
Just wanted to say that I love the culture! The different building styles, especially the sod roofs of the early versions. Millager textures are also great. I spent my whole weekend just watching them build up a small military village (although I had to do a lot of terraforming because they had some weird holes in the ground, intersected with a Minecraft village I dismantled completely and had a lot of ground taken up by a river that I made smaller and built a bridge over that they integrated really well and built the Inn on the other side). Got rich on selling them wool products (a small farm of red sheep).
itsjustgavi · 2023-07-07
Could you add this to Curseforge? I love the addon and would like to add it to my server. Additionally I think this is a strong contender for the next official culture!
