Raid — An armed expedition sent by one village against another village to defeat its defenders and carry off goods. Planned by a village chief, or by the player in a village they control; the defending village can repulse it. Raiders are the villagers sent on the raid. Pick one word for 'raid' and use it in every raid string (raid, raider, plan a raid, raids suffered, raid history).
Undgå: Words for a police raid or an air raid; modern military jargon.

Each inscription is split into short lines shown on consecutive lines of a sign (hof.xxx1, hof.xxx2…): translate the lines of one inscription together; the split point may move to suit your grammar, but keep each line short.

Byzantine — The Byzantine (Eastern Roman) Empire, around the 11th century. The Byzantines called themselves Romans (Rhomaioi): in-character speech may use that self-name, but labels use your language's usual word for 'Byzantine'.
